About Sher –
As many of you know, I’ve been a wildlife rehab volunteer for nearly 2 decades. I have invested in many courses and received hand on training at various wildlife rehabilitation clinics as a weekly volunteer over several years. I respond to calls to assess orphaned or injured wildlife to get them the care they need. I answer calls, texts, and social media messages to help people properly handle injured or orphaned animals. This is often several times daily during spring and summer seasons. I also volunteer with the Captain Paul Watson Foundation (founder of Sea Shepherd), where I’ve worked for over a decade to advocate for and support ocean wildlife conservation.
I’ve been on the front lines during major tragedies, like Derecho’s and tornadoes, rescuing wildlife from the aftermath of these horrific events. It is heart-wrenching work but I am called to do it.
In recent years I have taken on the role to help control the feral cat population in my local community. This is beneficial to our native wildlife while also offering a humane way to care for neglected domestic animals. I invest in trapping, spay/neuter, shots and tests when indicated. Then I feed them and provide shelter. When/if there are opportunities to socialize and find forever homes, I try my hardest.
With the recent spread of Avian Flu, we’ve had to adjust our protocols, and unfortunately, more animals are dying from this disease. It’s more important than ever to stay vigilant AND ensure the wild cat population is controlled as best as possible.
Despite having late-disseminated Lyme disease and an old car, I continue to remain committed, despite the risks often associated with wild animal encounters. It is important that anyone that handles wild animals is familiar with proper protocols, but that does not mitigate all risks.
Because of these growing costs, I created this list. I have also invested in my rabies vaccination series and have titers performed and update shots as needed. I remain fully committed to protecting wildlife and the environment, and I truly appreciate any support—whether through a contribution or simply sharing this post.
In addition, a portion of the proceeds from my skincare and nutrition business goes directly to support this cause. I also offer complimentary nutrition consults to anyone considering a plant-based or vegan lifestyle. As a certified nutritionist in both plant-based nutrition and nutrition science (from Stanford and Cornell Universities), I’m dedicated to helping others improve their health, protect the planet, and promote the welfare of animals by choosing a compassionate, plant-based diet.
I’ve also invested in the design, hosting, and maintenance of this website to share important information about my commitment and provide valuable resources for making a difference. Please take a moment to explore the pages at www.NurtureNatureNow.com to learn more. Additionally, I’m seeking volunteers who can help manage and expand this content.
